Tim Davis is a 42-year-old businessman who presents with a 3-day history of diarrhoea with mucous and bloody streaks preceded by crampy abdominal pain. He also has fever, headache and orthostatic hypotension. He denies vomiting. PMH is non-contributory. No family members are sick. The only risk factor is recent travel to a convention in Chicago.
